My Story

Please read our Core Values prior to applying, www.furryfriendsnetwork.com/adopt/our-expectations. Update 6/6/2024. Hi, Vito here with an update on my foster situation. I have been with my foster family for 8 weeks, and I am learning all kinds of good stuff - sit, kennel, off, wait and how to properly walk on a leash. Not a fan of walks, I still only do my bathroom needs when off leash. The trainer and the vet decided to give me some help with my anxiety issues, so I am currently on an anti-anxiety medication. It helps me to not be afraid of new things, and the vet thinks once I am in my forever home I will eventually not need it anymore. Everyone says I am a handsome man and I am not sure why no one wants me to join their family. I love to snuggle and be close to my foster mom all the time. Sometimes she calls me "Velcro" and I look at her funny 'cause my name is Vito not Velcro. Please give me a chance at love and a furever home! It would be great to have a canine sibling and a fenced in yard. Posted 4/27/2024. Hi, my name is Vito the Italian love bug. I am an approximately 3 year-old, 65 lb German Shepherd mix. Vito is an Italian name derived from the Latin word "vita" meaning life, and Saint Vitus is the patron saint of dogs. So if you want to adopt a saint, I am your guy. My foster mom says I am a very handsome guy and melt hearts with my big brown eyes. If you look deep into my eyes, you will see a soulful guy who needs love, attention and PATIENCE. My beginnings were not the greatest, and I am learning that humans are good. I love playing with my foster brother, chilling in my crate, and eating. I am really a mellow, low-key guy that would love a fenced yard and a canine sibling to pal around and play. I don't like to be alone! If my foster brother or a human is there, I am okay; but being totally alone is scary. My crate is right beside my foster brother's crate and I am good in it for 4 or 5 hours while you are gone as long as he is beside me. My crate is also my safe space when new humans come to visit. Foster mom leaves the door open so I can go in and out during the day. Foster mom says I am really gentle on leash. However, I prefer to relieve myself in the back yard when not attached to a leash. I am working hard to perfect my house training, learning to ring the bells at the door when I need to go outside. For now, foster mom makes sure to let me out every 4 or 5 hours. I am also learning that when I do good things I get treats! Check back for updates from my foster mom as I settle into this great new place they call my foster home. Contact [email protected] for questions or if issues are encountered with the adoption application or general adoption process. Foster Homes are desperately needed in order to help more animals like this one. Please consider opening your heart and home to a homeless animal.
