Hello, I'm Violet, a three-year-old female German shepherd weighing 80 pounds. I'm a friendly girl, though I can be a bit cautious at first. Once I feel comfortable, I'll eagerly approach you for pets and attention, and I love hearing what a good girl I am. I have a calm and gentle energy and am very tolerant of dogs that are more energetic than me. I don't get frustrated when they bounce all around me; in fact, I often prefer the company of my dog friends even more than my human friends. With my serene demeanor, I'm sure to be a very loyal and loving companion in my forever home. To keep me safe, I'll need a secure 6-foot fence. I also need a confident sibling in my home to help me grow in confidence and learn how to be the best dog I can be. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. We typically do not adopt to homes with young children. Homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Common skills such as house training and leash walking will often take a little extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, most of these dogs come around rather quickly and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience.
