My Story

Such a lovable pup. Viola is the sister of Poppy and is 5 months old. She is a hound mix and will be in the large size range (50+pounds) when fully grown. At this point she weighs 35 pounds. She has a short black and white coat (Looking at her color, her face, and floppy ears, it makes you wonder if lab is mixed in). It is a guess for anyone but there is no guessing on how sweet she is.Viola is a good-natured pup who is comfortable with kids and other dogs. She likes to be with people. It is not known if she has ever met a cat. Little is known about her earlier life which remains a mystery, but she is a good, spirited girl no matter what her past held.Hounds come in a variety of types. But their personalities can be similar as they are known to be inquisitive, friendly, and intelligent, as are labs. They are often lively dogs with plenty of energy, as well as being agile and of course, great trackers when using their sense of smell. As to training, it is best to start at the beginning or do a refresher course with crate, house, and leash training. She is currently working on all three skills. She will need the right guidance mixed with consistency, repetition, and patience. Cheerful praise and lots of treats will go a long way in helping her master those daily routines. Short daily walks (30 minutes max) will support leash skills as well as socialization skills. It will be a new world to her with all the new sights, smells, sounds, and people along her walk. She cannot become a running companion until she is at least a year old. At that point her growth plate will close. At home she will also benefit from mental stimulation in the form of activities and play toys. That will help keep her from being bored. A secured back yard will give her free time to play and burn off extra energy. Are you willing to take on the task of helping Viola transition to a new life where she can reach her potential? If yes, read on.The adoption fee for Viola is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue, and transport fees.
