Vicki

This is Vicki, a Chihuahua/spaniel mix, at least we think so. She's had a rough life for quite some time. After her rescue, it took her a week to decompress and show any interest in us. She's a quiet girl, only barking when appropriate. But, sometimes the other fosters get her barking. She's good with my husband and has met some other members of the family on visits. But, she was happy to go back to her crate. However, now she likes hanging out in the living room in her dog bed or on the floor. She sleeps all night in the crate. It's her safe place and really needs that "den feeling." If we leave the house, she is crated. Vicki's foster mommy recommends a single family home (no apts./condos) and a must have fenced in yard. Her fur is very soft and she enjoys the pets and scratches behind her ears. She enjoys a short walk but fearful of a lot of activity and loud noises, so needs a secure halter. She does well kept on a potty schedule and doing so much better! I tether her to a door knob when preparing her food. She may have accidents otherwise when I'm distracted. She loves to sit in our laps now for a while if the other foster isn't hogging foster Mom. Sometimes she'll sit in Foster Dad's lap then. Due to the history of where she came from, she won't be the dog that will run up to you when you meet her. In reality it will take time for her to adjust to your home and you, like she has here. She will need a home with patient people who will work on gaining her trust and socialization. She's a loving companion, once she feels you can be trusted. She deserves a chance to blossom with you as she has here. But know it may take a couple weeks or more. If you are interested in Vicki, fill out an adoption application.
