*WE ARE ALWAYS IN NEED OF FOSTER HOMES** Homeward Bound Dog Rescue is an all volunteer rescue organization and all our dogs and puppies are in foster homes - we are not a shelter and do NOT have a facility where we house our dogs. Hey everyone this is Vera coming to you from my foster home! I’m not sure exactly how but I ended up in a shelter in New Mexico, but with the help of Homeward Bound Dog Rescue I have made it all the way to New York! I am a shy and frightened little nine pound Chihuahua mix, with legs that stretch all the way back to New Mexico! I am around 2 and a half years of age and am a very healthy little girl. I would do best in a home with adults who can be patient and let me acclimate at my pace. Children would not be a good idea at this time as a child might be overwhelming to me. I would do great with someone just looking for a little girl to chill with on the couch and once I get some confidence maybe we can do some walking around the neighborhood. I travel well in a kennel but don’t be surprised if I move around some in it. Because I am so frightened I will come with a harness for walks in the yard for potty, only until I get used to my new people. I tend to be a rather quiet girl at my foster moms house but I’m sure that will be okay with you. I do like kibble, air fried chicken, and air fried steak. Oh, I also like treats, if you want to give them to me. I have a beautiful golden colored coat and once you meet me you won’t be able to help but fall under my spell! Our adoption clinics are held one Saturday a month at our facility in Schenectady on John Street, located directly behind Boulevard Bowl (Erie Boulevard) from 10 am to 12 pm (directions are on our website). We require an approved application before we consider anyone for an adoption - so filling out the application is your first step. Once your application has been reviewed you will receive an email invitation to attend an adoption event. Different dogs and puppies go up for adoption EVERY WEEK so please feel free to visit the site and click on the Petfinder link for updates as we are adopting dogs out in between adoption events. Puppies and dogs up to 2 years old are $395. Dogs over 2 years old are $295. 100% of the adoption fees go to help us save more dogs.
