My Story

Meet Velma! Age: 3 years DOB: 1-5-21 Sex: Female Breed: Yorkie Mix Current Weight: 11 lbs Dog friendly? Yes! Cat friendly? Not sure, but willing to test! Kid friendly? She lives with 13, 11, and 9 year old kids and loves them! House-training: In progress. When in a contained area (kennel, single room, pen), she keeps that clean, but will have have accidents if left unsupervised roaming the house. Crate-trained: In progress. She will sleep quietly in her kennel overnight, but if her humans are out and about in the house while she is in her kennel, she will fuss because she would like to be out and about with them! Energy level: Low-Medium. She likes a nice walk or play session, then loves to be snuggled up in bed or on the couch with you. History: Velma was surrendered to an Alabama shelter along with her 2 puppu3s and then made her way to her WI foster home on 7/6/24. Best features: AMAZING ears, loves belly rubs, THE sweetest personality! Things to keep working on: Basic obedience and potty training. Additional Info: Velma is a sweet little girl, who would love nothing more than to be your shadow! She looooves to be carried around like a baby and to be as close as possible to her people. She would do fine as an only dog of her people are home most of the time, but may do better with a dog friend or two if her people are gone more often. Check out #mpmthevlitter on Facebook to see more photos and videos of Velma! Velma is fostered near DeForest, WI and is available for adoption through Ma, Paws, & Me Pet Rescue based out of Watertown, WI. She will be adopted with a spay addendum (to be done once her pups have been weaned for 30 days), is microchipped, dewormed, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, and current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. Velma’s adoption fee is $325. Visit https://www.mapawsmepetrescue.com/adoption-application to apply! Interested in meeting Velma? All Ma, Paws & Me Pet Rescue dogs are in homes with foster families; we do not have a shelter where dogs are available for daily viewing. Our process is as follows: 1. Review our policies and adoption radius on our website: http://mapawsmepetrescue.com/adopt/ 2. Submit an application for review and approval; 3. MPM Rescue reviews application and checks vet records and references; 4. MPM foster contacts approved applicant(s) to arrange a home check and meeting with available dog(s); 5. If there is a good fit, adoption is completed with a contract and fees (payable via check or cash). The adoption fee is listed here: http://mapawsmepetrescue.com/adopt/ Dogs from Ma, Paws & Me Pet Rescue come with the following medical care already provided: - Spay/Neuter surgery - Age appropriate vaccinations - Heartworm test (for dogs over 6mo) and treatment if positive - Microchip - Deworming - Heartworm and Flea/Tick Preventative - Any other necessary medical treatment as recommended by veterinarian *Please note that the identified breed(s) are best guesses. We very rarely have information on our dogs' actual breeds since they often come to the shelters we work with as strays.*
