My Story

VALLEY - 3 years, 10lbs, Chi Mix, Spayed PLEASE NOTE - Needs home out of the city or BK or Queens - not a great fit for Manhattan :) This is eligible to join our foster-to-adopt program. Please email [email protected] with the animal's name in the subject line if you are interested! Want to straight up adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org. Valley is a sweet girl who is looking for a special person that will give her time to get super comfy. She isn't thrilled with Manhattan life and would love to be a BK, Queens or beyond type of girl. She's a very respectful houseguest and very loving once she gets to know you. This girl is a low key type of babe - on the shy side and we know with more time and consistency she will blossom. We've met many great souls like her. She's housetrained, fine home alone, really really really likes her crate and is just respectful indoors. Her foster mom likes to take her for trips to Brooklyn: Valley loves it there. Valley is an awesome brunch buddy too. We think she would do very well in a home with another dog similar in size to her. She would be best in a home without little kids: they are scary to her. Overall she's a diamond in the ruff - just needs someone to give her a chance and we know she's that type of A plus doggie buddy people are looking for. Level of dog ownership experience needed: INTERMEDIATE: This dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.) Energy Level: MEDIUM: Needs a daily 60-90 minute walk or window of quick paced exercise (minimum) in addition to potty break strolls (10-30 min each). Also needs significant socializing opportunities outside the home and mental stimulation at home like tricks training practice, chew items, and puzzle toys. (This is regardless of dog size many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they're understimulated.) Cuddle bug level: Medium - she really loves to spend time in her crate, that's her safe zone but she's really sweet and affectionate Potty trained? Yes - no accidents Comfy with strangers? More of a wallflower - takes a minute to warm up to new people. Not going to be your extroverted dog that walks up to everyone wanting pets. Comfortable with children? (ALWAYS requires adult supervision) Okay for a home with older children - 12 and up - not a good fit for little kids Social with other dogs? yes - we would actually love to see Valley in a home with another dog Respectful of other small animals? (cats, pocket pets, etc.) Not sure - we don't see her being a problem with cats - we can cat test for approved adopters Mouthy behavior: Nope - past this stage of her life Leash manners: Decent - not bad on leash. Working on her confidence in the city Okay in the city? Much prefers BK, Queens and beyond (the burbs) Jumping to say hi? Nope - polite pup Separation anxiety? Nope - fine left home alone Crate trained? Yes - loves her crate! PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses though! This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes. LEARN MORE ABOUT US: socialteesnyc.org and Instagram @socialteesnyc
