Valkyrie is an old face returning to Animal Friends. This pretty girl originally came in as a stray in November 2019 and was adopted shortly after that. Unfortunately, Valkyrie recently ended up at another animal shelter before being transferred back into our care. She is now estimated to be around 5 years old and is on the petite side of things, weighing in at under 40#. In being re-assessed for adoption staff noted that she was easy to leash and get out of her kennel, though she did pull somewhat on leash. Valkyrie responded to command sit and took treats gently. Fast movements seem to terrify her so she may do best in a home without small children. She does seem interested in toys and will carry over the ones she wants to play with. Future adopters may want to share with their vet that Valkyrie did not seem to like being restrained for her heartworm test and did best with a muzzle on for it. Valkyrie was dog tested and introduced to a male dog on leash. The male dog was vocal and eager to try to play. She initially seemed more interested in trying to get the attention of all the people while outside, but when she realized the dog was here to play she did engage and both dogs did well together.
Valkyrie is current on shots, licensed, and microchipped. All dogs over 6 months have been heartworm tested, and all dogs are treated monthly for fleas/ticks and are on Heartworm prevention (NexGard PLUS). All pets are spayed/neutered prior to a finalized adoption. All our dogs receive a behavior assessment before being placed for adoption to determine initial behaviors towards people and other dogs in the shelter environment. If you have questions about an animal please have their name and ID number ready and contact shelter staff by: (1) visiting Animal Friends during our open hours, (2) calling 513-867-5727, or (3) emailing [email protected].
WE HAVE MORE PETS IN THE SHELTER THAT ARE NOT ON PETFINDER.
