My Story

Hi there!! My formal name is Valentina, but my foster mom calls me Elgie (as in LG for Little Girl). I am very sweet and happy, but shy, and love living in a semi-rural area where I can run free in a fenced yard. If your yard has moles, I am the girl to find them! Before I came to MPR I lived outdoors with other dogs in a rural area with little human contact. So, I am not a fan of crowded, noisy places like festivals, breweries and parades, but I am not at all phased by fireworks or thunder storms. It takes me just a little while to get used to strangers. I am always ready to go outside, where I love to zoom around our fenced backyard and chase squirrels up trees with the Yorkie here. I don't run for long, but it sure is fun. I would like to run and play a bit with my foster mom's dogs, but they are older and not interested. I got along great with another young foster dog that was here for a while. Even though I like to run and am only about 2 years old, I am calm in the house. I am house-trained and do not need to be crated when my foster mom is not home (max of about 3-4 hours). As you can see from my photos, I love to snuggle with my foster mom's Yorkie, but the other dog here is OK too. The Yorkie and I are almost always in the same vicinity as foster mom. The Yorkie also has helped me learn how to be a house dog, which I really like. I never smile, but my tail wags almost constantly (even when I eat dinner). I rarely bark and respond well to mild corrections.I love to sleep on the bed with my foster mom. The Yorkie and I snuggle right up against her and keep her warm on cold nights. I even jumped up on the lap of the house/dog sitter who was here when foster mom was away. The sitter said I am "a sweet little girl."My ideal home would have a fenced yard in a quiet area so I can zoom; another friendly dog for me to snuggle and play with; and a patient owner who will give me time to adjust to a new home.I weigh about 20 pounds and am spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, up to date on flea/tick and heartworm prevention and heartworm negative. My adoption fee is $200. Apply today at www.mpravl.org/adopt-a-pet/available-dogs! I look forward to meeting you! All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Contact the foster parent or Mountain Pet Rescue at [email protected] for more information. Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label. Mountain Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit tax deductible charity (EIN 82-3039637) located in Asheville, NC.
