My Story

ADOPTED! - Hello World! My name is Ursula (but you can call me "Ursa", which means "little girl bear") and I have a real-life rags-to-riches story to tell.... My brother Oso and I were born in late May. When we were just two days old, a man brought my brother and me--and our mom--to the pound. (The man told the shelter that he had "found" us in the woods, but.....he was probably our owner who just didn't want us any more.) My mom was very sad when he left, because she couldn't care for us properly in a pound environment. And no one wanted to adopt all three of us (we were too young to be separated). As you can see in the one picture of our mom on HER Petfinder post (her name is Hannah) she was very frightened for us, because she could hear other dogs down the hall, crying and screaming as they were being "put to sleep". Our mom knew that pound was getting ready to kill us the next day, by putting all three of us in the gas chamber....
Now, this is where YOU get to join in our "rags-to-riches" story! My brother and I are a couple of months old now and the nice rescue group who saved our lives is looking for a loving home for each of us--and a home for our mom too. (Be sure to check out her post too....As I mentioned, her name is "Hannah".)
Since our dad was a traveling man, we don't really know how big my brother and I will grow to be, but we'll probably look a lot like our mom. (Mom says she is some sort of a hound mix, and she weighs 50 pounds.)
I'm very playful and loving and smart, and I would provide lots of hours of entertainment (and lots of work too, or course!) for whoever takes me home. Because I'm still little, it would be best if I went to a home that didn't have really young children, and I'd love a safely fenced yard to play in as I grow up (please, no invisible fencing).
The rescue group who saved my family has established a special foster-to-adopt plan (which they can explain to you) so if you're interested adopting me, please contact my foster mom right away and tell her a little about yourself. Then, if she feels we'd be a good fit for each other, she will e-mail you an adoption application. I'm ready to go home with you NOW and my adoption fee--once I'm spayed and totally vetted--will be $250.
Please click on "One Starfish Rehoming Connections" adjacent to the photo to read more about our rescue's adoption policies and fees. We do not operate a humane society or shelter, so we do not have a facility that is open to the public. Our dogs are fostered by volunteers in private homes, and are not available for viewing until an adoption application is filled out and references are checked. Please read the information on our home page (by clicking on our rescue name above this dog's photo) before contacting us.
