Good in a home with
Gary came into Rescue a few months ago in terrible shape. He had been so neglected and was suffering from advanced Mange, malnutrition, Heart worm and Kennel Cough. He was slated for euthanasia at a rural shelter in Eastern Arkansas, since no one considered adopting him in his sorry condition. The Shelter volunteers put out a heartfelt plea for someone to save this boy, as he was a favorite of all who got to know him. Rocky Ridge decided to give him his chance, and he has proved to be worth all the extra care! Gary is thriving now and becoming cuter by the day. As you can see from his pics, he still needs to re-grow more hair, but he is healthy and happy now. He is a loving, smart dog who so enjoys being with people. He is playful, but knows to be calm in the house. He is crate trained, and at night when he gets tired, he goes to his crate on his own for bed. He learned the dog door quickly and has been good in the house. He may still need some guidance in house rules and other training in a new environment, but wants to please. He is good with female dogs, but not so much with males. He even does well with mellow cats in the household. However, his favorite friends are people! Like a typical Pit/Pit Mix, he also loves to play in the water and get sprayed with the hose.
He would like to be a lap dog at times, but will settle for just being in the same room as his family when he can.
