My Story

This sweet guy's name is Troy. He is a young (1.5 years) neutered male, weighing approximately 53lbs. (He would love to work on getting rid of some of those huggable luv handles!) He appears to have an australian shepherd mix heritage. With one half blue eye and one brown eye he is oh so handsome! Troy is extremely friendly, gentle and affectionate. He gets along well with his foster brothers and is curious but does not chase the cats. Despite his less than luxurious life style and beginnings, he seems to be in great spirits and is acclimating well to his foster people now that he is learning what it is like to be a part of the family. Recently, Troy went to the "u wash it" place. He jumped in the car like he had been doing it all of his life. It was amazing. He loves to ride in the car and is such a good passenger. His foster parents expected him to raise a fuss at the dog wash, but he didn't. Troy went in the tub and allowed his foster mom to take him through all of the cycles of the bath (rinse, flea wash, rinse, dry, vacuum, conditioning spray, ear and face cleaning). Voila! He came out SO shiny and handsome with his red and white merled coat! After a quick stop to pick out a new collar and leash he was a handsome dog alert we tell you! His foster mom says he held his head so high when they left the dog wash boutique, it was great!

Troy is excellent on walks, a natural when you consider he has never been on any. What a great boy on his walks! He has heel down so great he almost trips you. : ) He does get a little anxious when cars come up behind him, but is working on that with daily walks and socialization outings. One day his foster dad came home at the tail end of his walk and (living in a dead end, cul-de-sac) when his foster mom knew it was safe she let his big GSD foster brother off the leash to go "greet dad" and then Troy had to do it too of course! He trotted two steps, then took off running toward his foster dad! "Ready set, here I come foster dad," Troy seemed to say! What an enthusiastic dog with such a love for life and for people! He is going to make a great addition to some lucky family.

TROY'S PICNIC INVITE!

from his foster mom: After piling all of our dogs and us into the car, we rode out to Fall City. Troy jumped into the car and road like a pro. No whining, no pacing, no car sickness, nothing. Amazing!

When we arrived, he waited to have his leash put on, then bounded out of the car full of interest of the new place. He still walked very respectfully into a fully gated area of the dog spa. There were about 50 people and 25 dogs running around and a full table of food. The swimming (therapy) pool was open and several kids and dogs were in the pool. There was a lot going on. Troy took it all in stride. After greeting the host, we let everyone off the leash to explore. I fully expected Troy to bound off and not be seen again until he was tired. Amazingly, greeted everyone that wanted to see him but stuck close by. There were dogs running around and Troy would introduce himself, but he is not overly forward about it. There were several families sitting on steps, basically at nose level with Troy. They would call him over, but he wasn't jumping in their lap or eating off their plates. He is so well behaved. He would give kisses when asked. What a great dog he is.

We found a place to park our chairs and doggie water bowl. Ceasar and Troy wandered around and met everyone. Troy is confident, but not dominant. He is very friendly and likes adults, kids and dogs. He would come back to us when called. Two ladies came over to give him lots of love and he was very happy about that. They were telling him how handsome he was and what a nice dog he was and giving him lots of kisses. He thought that was great.

After several hours, Troy was wore out. We piled everyone back into the car and went home. Troy slept on the way home and lounged around for the rest of that night. He had a big day.
