This is Treasure, a beautiful brindle Great Dane, who was four years old on March 1. Her early life wasn't the greatest for her and her siblings, as they were basically left out in a pen with little human contact and no one to love them. Fortunately, at 7 months of age, Treasure came to live with a new family, consisting of lots of animal friends and a person who could teach her all the things she had missed. Stuff like how much fun it is to play with toys and how good it feels to get lots of hugs! Like most Danes, Treasure is a comfort seeker- she loves to stretch out on the couch or bed or can be found basking in the sunniest spot in the yard. More than anything though, she enjoys being with her person. If she can't be, she waits patiently, or passes the time playing with her canine buddy. She never bothers anything in the house and a 4 1/2 foot fence keeps her in the yard. She does know how to open a storm door from the inside; a fact discovered one day after she invited into the house a baby zebra that was living in the backyard! At various times she has also helped raise an antelope and water buffalo, and can often be found snuggled up with the cats or baby lambs. She sometimes forgets how big she is though, and needs reminders to play easy with the little critters. So why is this special girl in need of a new home? Well, as she has matured she has decided that she wants to be the only lady canine in this family. That's a problem because her owner does rescue and fostering of needy pooches and has several other sweet girls. Treasure deserves a home where she can reign as queen and be someone's best friend. Treasure has grown up with a big male Anatolian Shepherd who thinks her rough play and occasional grouchiness is no big deal, so another big male companion would probably be fine. She would do well as an only dog also, as long as her people didn't leave her alone the whole day. As tough as she sometimes thinks she is with other dogs, with people she is always gentle as a lamb. Well, not counting the whipping you get from her tail if you don't dodge all the wagging! She never jumps on people, but she loves to give big sloppy kisses if you bend down within range! She's so good in fact, that you can take a big juicy bone right out of her mouth and she just wags her tail. She's always been sleek and healthy and just takes a DES pill once a week for an occasional bladder leak that started after she was spayed-a not uncommon occurance in spayed females. This is totally controlled with this inexpensive therapy. Treasure is located in North Central Arkansas and must be picked up in person by her new owner.References are required and previous "Big Dog" experience, especially with Danes is ideal.
