My Story

7/11/24 Unfortunately, Tosh’s update isn’t good but was what we were expecting. The bone in his leg is not holding the plate and screws. So another surgery would not be possible. Tosh will be having the leg removed today. It’s not what we wanted after all the efforts were made to save it. But he has been holding it up for a while and manges just fine on three legs. He will finally be free from the confinements of the cage in recovery. And will be able to interact and play with the other pups and people something he’s missed out on in much of his first year. Please keep him in your prayers today. 7/2/24 Tosh Update Tosh went to Tufts for what we were hoping was his final recheck. Unfortunately the news was not good. The plate in his femor has a slight bend and the bones in both the femur and tibia look mottled. The vet had hope it could be a sign of infection so he was started on a course of antibiotics. And fluid was sent out for testing. The results came back as negative/no infection which is good but that means the bones are likely deteriorating or have always been too soft to heal correctly. Tosh is a happy healthy little guy but these last 9-10 months have taken its toll on him. He’s been made to with stand crate rest while all the other fosters run and play freely around him. We could pursue another surgery but with absolutely no guarantees and poor Tosh will be forced to start yet another long recovery of 6-10 weeks of complete crate rest. We are still holding out for a miracle in the next week. But we may be forced to face the fact that his leg just can’t be saved. This little guy is resilient and we seen many pups handle life on three legs happier the crating he’s continually endured! Please keep him in your thoughts. Tosh has had many surgeries on his legs throughout his short life. He just had his last surgery and will finally be ready for his new home by the end of June. We would love his new home to have another playful dog around his size so Tosh can finally be the playful puppy he deserves and wants to be. We are also looking for a home that can give him lots of human attention as he had to be confined alot from his surgeries to heal and it is now time for him to be free, receive lots of attention and to have fun! If you think you are this home for Tosh please submit an application at www.yorkiesinc.com Please read below information on Tosh Tosh is our “Tart” boy. He weighs 4lbs and is feisty and full of fun! He’s out going and loves to play. He has a severe patella on the left side that will need to be surgically repaired. He also has a small hernia that will be repaired during his neuter. Please consider making a donation towards his surgery. https://www.yorkiesinc.com/fundraiser 10/28 Tosh will be having surgery on the 31st. They will be putting a pin in his leg to hopefully straighten it as he grows. He not only has a bad patella but his femur is also twisted. 1/2024 Tosh had surgery back in October unfortunately the results were not as good as we were hoping. Tosh will be having a second surgery in MArch once hsi growth plates have fully closed. Please keep him in your thoughts and consider making a donation to his second surgery. Thank you. 3/24 Tosh had FHO surgery on his “good” leg and is doing well. Once this leg has healed he will be having another surgery in his other leg. This should be happening the end of April. 4/24 Tosh hopefully had his last surgery. He is recovering and doing well. 5/24 Tosh continues to do well from his last surgery. He is going back to the vets at the end of May and then should be ready for his new home. 5/24 Tosh went back to the vets and his leg is looking great, but they want to give him a few more weeks of containment but in a bigger area to build up muscle but also keep his leg safe to heal a little more.
