Tootie is a wonderful, wonderful dog - she would make the most perfect companion for an older person who wants a buddy. She is calm, easy going and a bit timid but isn't "afraid" - she is not nippy , is not high energy and is fine with all animals and children.
After a week with this foster, I truly feel Tootie should be placed in a home WITH another dog - she follows their lead and it truly helps her with her "human" anxiety - if the other dogs trusts us, we must not be so bad. She is wonderful with my dogs and really likes being with them - you can tell it makes her feel safe.
Her pictures do not do her justice - she is obviously beagle with those beautiful ears but she also has the markings of a blue tic with the spots on her feet and part of her body - she's simply gorgeous!
This sweet girl has not had an easy life - she is approx 5 years of age and obviously was not shown much love in her previous home - she came into our shelter with her puppies and was a wonderful mother to them; they have since been adopted and now it's her turn.
Tootie had an injury to her right eye which precludes her from seeing from it (our vet believes); she can see fine however from her left eye.
Tootie is almost 100% house trained and will show you her signs to go out once you get used to her and she to you. She came into rescue severely underweight but is not a perfect beagle size.
Medical: Tootie is spayed, up to date on her shots, heartworm negative and ready to go!
Notes: This girl's precious personality is literally what saved her life. Our rescue coordinator went to the shelter to get Bethany out and saw Tootie in a small wire cage with her four babies. She had brought tons of treats to try and win Bethany over and all the dogs in the pound started to go nuts when they saw she had something. Tootie never barked, never stopped feeding her babies- but just looked at our coordinator as if to plead...if you have anything left over, can I have some.. She is the most unassuming, gentle little girl who just won over our hearts.
We didn't have any room at our clinic for Bethany, much less for another Mom and four babies, but our clinic found a way to make space. Tootie is one lucky girl- she got out of this high kill pound during a week when we were completely full.
