My Story

Update - Tommy was adopted but was returned after a month. He started to go after the dog in his new home. So at this time he would love to be an only dog. He is doing well back in his foster home. He plays well with the other dogs unless they try to take something from him. He is snuggly and sweet with most people once he learns to trust you. He may bark at first to let you know he is in charge but quickly will warm up to you if you put him in your lap. He is going to have some obedience training after the holiday. He already knows a great deal of things but hopefully it will help to socialize him more. He sure has come a long way from when he was rescued. Update 9/28/05 Tommy is doing well. He is still pretty timid with new things. He will need to be in a home where there is not a lot of change. He only wants to be outside with his person or in a fenced in yard where he can run rather prance around. We still feel he does not need to be in a home with young children since he does not like a great deal of activity. Tommy will now approach people and sniff them. But he will quickly run to a person he knows for security. Tommy still is very territorial and does not want to share all the time. Tommy is learning to trust people again. He is doing great and loves to sleep in bed near his human friends. He will bond with a special someone who takes the time to allow him to trust them. He loves the cats in his foster home but can be timid around the dogs. He wants to play with the dogs but does not know how. Tommy is only 8 lbs and was left outside by himself for over two months on a very short leash. His food bowl was filled with ants. This was after he was left by has second owner for the family to watch only for a week. We were asked if we could find him a home. Tommy did not appear to be use to contact with people when we picked him up because he was afraid of us. The home were he was one of the adults could not even pick him up. It has taken a week and he is learning to trust us. He has free rein of the house with all the other dogs and he is doing okay. He will still stay by himself unless someone is sitting and then he will go to that person. He will let us pick him up if we do not startle him. He still gets really nervous when a new person comes into the house. He is looking for a quiet home maybe without other animals or one his size. His forever home will have to be patient with him. But after a week he seems to want to be with us and will ask for attention. He is getting sweeter by the day. Tommy will need a family experienced with owning a small dog. He would loved to be leashed walked. Right now he is not completely housebroken but he is still adjusting to being in the house. He is neutered, up to date on shots and will be micro chipped before he leave his foster home. He is hoping someone will take him into their home and love him.
