Tilda

Tilda is about 1 1/2 - 2 years old in these pictures taken October 20, 2009. 

A REAL HEART STEALER. Everyone says so who meets her. It only takes a few minutes and she has your heart.

We have never met a dog who so wants to be with people that she just follows you around like a shadow.  Tilda is a quiet, gentle, loving, smart, and happy girl. She does want to jump up on you when she first sees you as she is just so happy that you are there for her. Tilda LOVES to snuggle and to be close to you when she is playing. Even when she is in the yard. At first she didn't really play much but we think that was because she was still a little over whelmed with everything that had happened to her.

NOW she runs and plays with all the dogs. And boy does she love playing with toys. It is so funny to watch her grab a toy and run with it while shaking it and throwing it up in the air. Then plop on her back to play with it some more. Rolling around with it in her mouth and throwing it up in the air some more. Her smile is priceless. She has really come alive.

Tilda is wonderful with everyone she meets regardless of age. She rides well in the car but does need to be in a kennel or seat belt or she will want to be in your lap. Walks are very enjoyable with her as she does wonderful on a leash. Not sure she has ever seen a cat before as she seemed frightened of the ones we introduced her to. Just took a look and walked off. When we tried to reintroduce her to them, she did not want to go up to them but tried to push back and shook.

There are only two problems that we have had with Tilda. She can jump or climb a chain link fence even if it is 6 ft tall. And she does run off if someone is not with her. We believe that she does this because she wants to find a person to play and snuggle with.

Tilda was picked up by a volunteer on her way back from taking dogs down to Little Rock. Tilda was running with three other dogs along a desolate, but busy highway.  No houses in site for miles.  The volunteer was only able to catch Tilda as two of the dogs went running in the woods, and the other one ran past her.  Tilda however, was very happy to see the volunteer and came running up to her.  Tilda was very hungry and had a decayed animal in her mouth.  She was also covered in ticks. 

Tilda let the volunteer put her in the kennel minus the dead animal) without any trouble.  The volunteer drove around and looked for the other three dogs but could not find them.  Once at LP, Tilda was given her shots and wormed.  She ate like there was no tomorrow. 

Tilda went into the vet on August 7 to get her rabies, a Heartworm/Lyme/Ehrlichia test, and a fecal.  She tested negative for everything and is on HW preventative.  Tilda weighed 47.7 pounds and still needs to gain some weight. 

There was a setback for Tilda when she went in on September 11 to be spayed. The vet found that she had punctured her left eye. Her eye has been saved, but she will always have a little cloudy spot on her eye that she will not be able to see out of. It does not stop her from seeing out of the eye completely and it has not fazed her in the least bit. She now weighs 52 pounds.
