Thumper

Thumper is a handsome male German Shepherd estimated around 5 years of age. He was a stray so we do not know his history prior to arrival at the shelter. Thumper is an absolute sweetheart and is extremely friendly with new people. He is a well mannered guy and is very appropriate asking for affection. He loves to have his chest scratched which is how he got his name - he will thump his back leg during chest scratches. Thumper enjoys going on walks and seems to have an okay understanding of leash manners. He is also house trained and great in his crate. Overall, he seems to have experience as a house dog and enjoys being part of things. He has not been around children at this time but would likely do okay with them. Thumper gets a bit excited with the other dogs but is overall appropriate. He is a large boy so he can be a bit intimidating and he wants to go straight to playing which not every dog appreciates. He has been able to make some friends in his foster home to play with though and is happy for that. He has not been around small dogs or cats at this time. Thumper does have Heartworm and has begun slow kill treatment (Doxycycline and Ivermectin) for this. We are happy to discuss heartworm, treatment options, and ongoing care needs with you.
