Since our dogs are exercised in huge grass kennels with a compatible buddy, they do get dirty this time of year so we highly recommend you request the dog be groomed prior to going home.
$50 adoption fee includes vaccinations, worming, vet exam, microchip, 2 free months pet insurance & many pets are already spayed/neutered!
Hi, I'm Fred, aka the Fredster. Is there anyone who could give me a great life...please? See the problem was that I was a good dog my family told the shelter, which I am, but not good enough for them to keep I guess. I was passed from my elderly owner to her children who didn't want me, and in the end they said if CCHS didn't take me, they'd have to kill me. I was really scared and have done nothing wrong to deserve such harsh punishment. My only flaw was I wandered off from my elderly owner, so she didn't want me because I 'did not listen'. Now had she leashed me, I'd still probably be in my home I've had since a pup. We both made mistakes that day, but I was the one to blame she said. What it comes down to is I’m not a stupid dog, and I know no one wants an older dog when they can have their choice of any puppy or young adult dog...but I’m special too and really sweet! CCHS says I'd make an ideal companion for just about anyone wanting a calm, well mannered guy since I'm already housebroken, trained and very easy going. I'm easy to leashwalk, I know the basic commands as well as shake & will even spin at times! I get along great with cats, other dogs, and kids. Plus despite being older, still enjoy goofing around with my toys. CCHS actually says they cannot believe I’m a 9.5 yr old boy, more like 5 yrs old, so I have a lot of life & love left in my puppy heart to give! I'm an expert listener and promise not to tell your secrets or judge you...just cock my sweet little head to the side and listen quietly. I'm super loveable, but what it comes down to is I’m lonely watching family after family pass me by. I have mastered the trick of giving a soft whine/cry from my pen to get people to come and snuggle with me, but it's not enough, I need a family. And what's devastating are those times when people stand at my pen & say they want to adopt me because my sad eyes are looking up at them, begging for a home. They get me excited, but then I turn around & see them holding & smiling at their newly adopted puppy. It's sad, but there has got to be someone who wants me, right?? I'm not a barker, I'm not a jumper and I don't have a mean bone in my body. My whole world has been taken away & I do not really know why, so I’m hoping someone out there will read this and consider adopting an older buddy like me. I'm a great friend to take on nature walks, I'm not a picky eater, and I just love to go for car rides too! All it takes is a little time out of your day to stop down & see me, or a few minutes to call the shelter. Oh and I’m sure you're wondering what type of pooch I am huh? Well I don't want you to be disappointed when you come since I’m just a mixed breed boy with long floppy ears, sad brown eyes and a little gray muzzle. My breed mix is actually a Schnauzer/Cocker Spaniel/Beagle...goofy huh? But that's me, cute and obviously very kissable. I have a brown body with black 'saddle' on my back from the beagle, the stubby cocker tail and the taller legs of the larger Schnauzer. I'm short haired and am a nice medium sized guy being about 40#, so you don't have to worry about stepping on me or getting me to the groomer each month for clipping. All I want is a couch to snuggle up on, a soft puppy bed to sleep on and a great family to give me all the love, exercise and attention I deserve! I'm already neutered, vaccinated, vet checked, started on worming, temperament tested, come with 30 days free pet insurance, and discounts from the groomer & vet. But because I’m older, CCHS thinks finding someone that could give me a good home will be hard enough to find, but then ask for a $50 adoption fee (even though it's a great deal for all my medical work!) may cost me the adoption...so if you cannot adopt me but could give a little money, CCHS could maybe waive my adoption fee and make finding me a great new family a little easier. "Every penny helps" as CCHS says and you can safely donate online with a credit card by the link below! Will you consider sponsoring or even adopting me????
