09/14/08: Teddy is possible a pomeranian/chihuahua mix. He is a senior boy looking for a special home. He is currently at a rural shelter in IL. He can be transported to our rescue once we receive an approved application for him. His time is limited at the shleter and he has managed to get an extension since some other dogs have been rescued, adopted or euthanized. Please help him find his forever home before it is too late. His adoption donation to the rescue is $125.00, which will help save other dogs and pups from euthnasia. Teddy will be up to date on shots, neutered, microchipped, and heartworm negative prior to adoption. Serious inquires only!!!
Notes from the shelter where he is currently: Teddy is a neutered male. He is being crate trained at the shelter. He is an older boy and does have a knot on his side and another near his spinal column between his shoulders that needs to be seen by a vet to determine what it may be and if it requires any treatment. He had been shaved prior to being found by animal control, but we are not really sure why. He's is a super sweet guy. UPDATE: 5-7-08 Teddy was seen by the vet yesterday and they took samples from the two tumors he has. They consulted and got back with us today. Teddy needs to have surgery to remove the tumors as they had questionable cells. We will do our best to get donations for his surgery and get him back to the vets as soon as possible. Update: 5-24-08 Teddy is scheduled for surgery next Thursday. We will update on Friday evening after we get him home from the vet. Update: 6-14-08 We've been slow on adding Teddy's update...sorry. He did go to vet for surgery, but they did more evaluation and found that the "tumor" on his side was not a tumor, but his kidney and that as he is older, the scar tissue around it would prevent our vet from doing surgery. The vet said he can function fine as he is. He does also have a problem with one hip. He walks on it ok, but if he runs, he picks it up and runs on three feet. He will need to be in a quiet home, perhaps as an only dog or one with another small calm dog his size and without any children as he has to be picked up a special way.
