Talula

Talula is an energetic sweetheart who was found roaming the park by herself on June 22nd. Luckily, a police officer was able to bring her to safety and transported her to the shelter. She was described as being very friendly. She was on her best behavior during her intake exam upon arrival at the shelter and was described by our medical staff as being "Very friendly, Sweet, Playful, Happy and Co-operative. Talula is an absolute lovebug who has befriended staff and volunteers alike. She enjoys giving hugs, treats, and exploring. She would thrive in an active family with kids 12 and older. She is an extremely loving girl who has sadly gone overlooked in the crowded shelter environment at no fault of her own. She would absolutely love to meet you and become the newest member of your loving family! Notes from shelter friends: Per staff 7/19/24: Sweetest girl ever! Talula presented very socially in kennel when approached and was very excitable when leashed. She met another dog on the way out and was super happy to make a friend - wiggly body and wagging tail. We brought her into the yard and she immediately ran around and sought out attention from both handlers. She allowed all petting, leaned in for pets, and would spontaneously get the zoomies. She has the softest fur and has older puppy energy. Per volunteer 7/19/24: I took 3 year old Talula out for a walk today. She's seems housebroken as she peed and pooped almost immediately outside. She was pretty easy going on the leash. She loves treats but can be a bit grabby. She is the softest girl ever. She loves love and asks for more pets. Talula seems to be medium to high energy. She definitely got down with the zoomies in the play yard. She didn't seem too interested in toys, more excited to just run around. Talula was easy to get back to her kennel. If you want a soft seal, this is your girl. Per volunteer on 7/10: She is very sweet & will probably be more energetic when she's feeling better, but she took treats nicely, was a little pushy to get more treats (she's a hugger), was easy to leash up, walk, and put back. 11/10. Per volunteer on 6/23/24: Talula is a super sweet girl who was very easy to handle. When I approached the kennel she greeted me with tail wags and happily took treats from me. She was very into sniffing everything and exploring with her nose. It seems like she might be housetrained because once we got outside she took a very long pee. Getting her leashed and into/out of her kennel was a breeze! Per staff on 6/23/24: Very sweet and submissive but a little sensitive around her head. Has a big bump that is probably tender. 12+ due to sensitivity around head Per staff on 6/23/24: When the handler arrived at Talula's kennel she was laying down in front of her bed with a wagging tail and soft eyes. Once she saw the handler she came right up and was very easy to leash. Talula came into the room and instantly started leaning against and hopping up on the handlers. She makes odd piggy grunting sounds that would expect form a bracchy dog. She allowed all over pets and handling but was definitely more sensitive around her head. She has a big bump on the top of her head and I suspect it is tender. Talula cowers down when you reach over her or loom over her, but gets very submissive instead of escalating. She greeted another staff member that walked in the room nicely, with wags and sniffs! She did the cutest after poop zoomies! Overall shes a sweet girl who's just a little sensitive. Happily bounces around. Does jump but isn't overbearing. Didn't mouth at all!
