My Story

ADOPTED! - Meet Sweet Pea! She is a most unique little girl, and very low key and loving! Sweet Pea is a year and a half old and she only weighs 12 lbs. She supposedly is a Chihuahua/Sheltie mix but we think she may have a distant Doxie relative, based on her body style. Sweet Pea is a little shy, but she is good with other dogs (and with cats) and she VERY much wants to bond with someone who will give her lots of attention and cuddling. We think that she would make a great companion for an older and/or retired individual or couple. Sweet Pea would enjoy a safely fenced yard (please, no invisible fencing) and--because she loves people so much--she doesn't want to be a latchkey dog, so an adopter who works just part time, is retired, or works out of his/her home would be ideal. Sweet Pea is small and can be a little cautious around strangers (but only until she knows they will treat her kindly),so we would prefer that she not be adopted by a family with young children because she might be inadvertently injured or frightened. Sweet Pea has been spayed, wormed, immunized, microchipped, and heartworm tested--and her adoption fee is $250. If you are interested in possibly adopting Sweet Pea, please first send us a "cover letter" describing yourself, your family/work situation, if you have a fenced yard and/or other pets, etc. (Our e-mail address is: [email protected]) Then, if we feel you would be a good fit for Sweet Pea (and if we all agree that Sweet Pea would be a good fit for you) we will e-mail you an application to fill out.
Please click on "One Starfish Rehoming Connections" under the photo to read more about our rescue's adoption policies and fees. We do not operate a humane society or shelter, so we do not have a facility that is open to the public. Our dogs are fostered by volunteers in private homes, and are not available for viewing until an adoption application is filled out and references are checked. Please read the information on our home page (by clicking on our rescue name below this dog's photo) before contacting us.
