My Story

Hi! I'm Sunny! I'm from Arkansas. From her foster: Sunny loves pets from every single person and is sometimes sad when they walk away on our short walks. She will pick certain driveways to sit on and watch people do things in their garage and if you would like to continue walking she will protest by sitting or laying down. A simple pat on the head will get her to stand up. Sunny is a flight risk around every squirrel. She is very safe around bikes and has been gentle (almost indifferent or aloof at times) with dogs walking by on a sidewalk. She is curious if the dogs walks directly up to her though. I DONT KNOW IF SHE IS OFF LEASH DOG PARK SAFE. She looks most happy on car rides and getting pets. She prefers to be in the same room or near another human or dog she knows. She does not like to be humped. Her favorite things in the world: car rides, pets from anyone, short walks, watching people/cars/dogs in public areas. Her dream day would include a busy street corner to sit, a car ride, a short walk, tons of pets from any human, and a squirrel in a fenced yard. She is not a fan of baths or rain or nail trimmings. After one day she got along really well with my Australian Shepard mix. The first day was a few low subtle growls at my dog. She has never growled at a human and has met lots and lots of people. She is treat motivated and likes the most expensive treats. Note:I have not introduced her to children and I was about to say she prefers men but after our short walks she falls in love with every human. She does not bark. She will do a low growl if my dog is overbearing. She has no food aggression but I feed her separately. she walks up stairs in an S formation (back left lag - limp). She has difficulty going down steps. If you would like her to move (she does not like pulling on leash or collar) she simply lies down and plays possum - so I have found if I find her harness and wave it in the air she will follow me anywhere. The harness is a symbol of her favorite things (short walks to sniff flowers - smile at cars - play with the electrical flag markers or chemical lawn markers - and get more pets from any person). She still jumps her paws onto people and likes to bear hug - but understands No. We have not done too many belly rubs - mostly back and head rubs. I don't own a tv or a couch but she would be a great couch potato candidate and is content - with anyone human that has touched her. I have been letting her sleep in her own 4 season porch with beds and crate open but I can tell she wants her own person so she can sleep in their bed (first day she jumped right onto guest bed) VETTING: I am currently being treated for heartworm disease. Heartworm is not contagious so your resident pets are not at risk! The treatment for this is 3-4 months long and requires a minimum of 3 appointments and strict rest/restricted activity. My adoption can take place during treatment, while TBB manages the financial responsibility of my heartworm treatment at The Bond Between Vet Center. Any other medical care needed outside of the specific care covered in the contract disclaimer, would be the responsibility of my new family.
