Look at that face! Sully looks like a purebred Weimaraner, but his tail was not docked. He is about 1 ½ years old and has had a pretty crappy 6 months. He was emaciated when we got him from our local shelter who was about to euthanize him, but he has gained weight and is quite happy. He weighs about 55-60#. He was pretty bummed out for the first few days when we brought him home. I’m sure he’s quite confused.
We are Sully’s 3rd home, 4th if you count the Shelter, in the last 6 months. His original owner had him for 4 months and he was surrendered to a shelter when they said he had “separation anxiety” and would urinate in his crate when they were gone. The shelter adopted him out for a couple of months and they had the same problem, so he was returned. When the shelter was thinking about euthanizing Sully, they thankfully called CARES first. Without hesitation, I said I would take him. He’s too young to die and I don’t believe in separation anxiety.
Sully is house trained and crate trained. Sully is crated at night by my bed, he goes in willingly. He is also crated when I leave during the day for any length of time. He goes in willingly at that time, too. He has NEVER urinated in his crate! He has been a perfect dog in my care, other than the counter surfing, which we are working on. This tells me that he just needs a pack leader that will teach him the rules and not let him think he’s the boss. Both his other homes allowed him to sleep on the bed, which is a no-no for any dog with “behavior concerns”.
Sully gets along with other dogs. He likes to play with them or just run circles around them outside. He is fine with cats. He has been around older children. Sully is not aggressive at all, he’s just a typical puppy who doesn’t always come when called (lol). But, he’ll do anything for a treat! He has the greatest SIT, so pretty!
Sully likes to run around outside and he does like to snooze when TV watching. He will snuggle right up to you, using you or another dog as his pillow. Quite comfy—good for him. He deserves a good, structured home where he can thrive. He likes tennis balls and bones to chew. He’s just a pretty normal dog. If you like Weimaraners, Sully is for you!
