My Story

******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Star, 8 months old (estimated DOB August 2023), spayed female, Retriever/Dane mix, currently weighs 50 pounds, expected to be a large size when full grown. She is physically located in a foster home in San Antonio, TEXAS and can transport out of State once an adopter is approved. We saw someone post about Star and her friend after they were picked up by Animal Control and taken to the county shelter. Their owner had been without a home and was arrested which led to them being picked up. Due to overcrowding, Star was scheduled for euthanasia. We are thankful a foster home came forward to save her precious life. Since being in foster care, Star has mastered crate training. She goes in her crate and is pretty quiet overall. She is fully housebroken and walks really well on leash. Star is a typical puppy with that zest for life and curious view of the world. She is walking well on leash. She is very friendly and greets everyone with a tail wag. She will jump up in a friendly manner which her foster mom has been working on. She would greatly benefit from a home who will invest energy into providing her a foundation, consistency and lots of love. She has been in a home with a cat. She has tried to make friends by running after him. We think she is eager to make friends. If you have a cat who can set boundaries with a dog, we think she would do great. Star shares a home with an older dog. She has learned to respect boundaries and picks up on ques. She has met other dogs outside of the house and brings all of that fun puppy energy. She loves to play, chase and run around. We think she would do wonderful with a dog who wants to play. She would do okay as an only dog with ways to socialize her with other dogs. She has discovered toys and really likes dismantling the squeakers. We have no history with kids and recommend a home with kids who respect and understand animal boundaries. Star is eager to learn and please. She rides well in the car and loves to be around people. For puppies this age, someone needs to be home more than they are away. We would like to see another dog in the home to continue her healthy socialization with other dogs. Star's foster mom tells us that she really is such a lover. She has wonderful house manners. She will run and have zoomies in the backyard. She rides well in the car and is so excited about life. ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. *** Interested in applying to adopt her?
