The second you lay eyes on him, an eternal love will begin to sprout in your heart! Meet Sprout, a cutie found as a stray in Philly and brought into the city's open intake shelter by the cops. Sprout LOVES pets and will make sure he gets his share, even if it means sliding his head beneath your hand and forcing you into it! We promise he'll put a smile on your face. He took pets all over and was super affectionate. He's a pretty excited and jumpy boy who loves hard! He loves treats, showed me sit after I asked a few times. He takes treats really well! He is so cuddly and goofy- he kept placing his head under my hand giving me no choice but to pet him! Super cute boy. He had an awesome meet with Bella Rosa he took sniffs and was very polite, not overly interested in her. really enjoyed chasing toys and even dropped it when I said drop! No guarding of the toys at all. Very good boy, super sweet! Per Staff 7/30/24: BEHAVIOR EVALUATION: KNOWN HISTORY: Stray KENNEL PRESENTATION: Sprout was wiggly at the front of the kennel when I approached and was bouncy doing toe tap, wiggling, wagging his tail, and had soft eyes. He was very easy to leash and exited without any issues. No issues returning LEASH SKILLS: Pulls moderately HANDLING: In the room Sprout as wiggly and had a loose body. He solicited attention from me in the room often and would nuzzle up close to me and lean in as I pet him. He was a bit jumpy at times but fairly easy to manage and as I pet him at times he would rub against me, likely to itch his skin. He was tolerant of full body petting without any issues and remained loose bodied for all handling. Took treats gently and showed knowledge of sit. PLAY: Engaged in play! Was aroused and would grip my leg at times with his paws like he was going to mount, but never actually mounted me. TOYS: Sprout engaged in play with toys but could be quite snatchy at times! He easily did trades for other toys or treats but was very snatchy with any toy I would give him and would begin to shake and rip the toy apart right away Per Staff 7/29/24: He was very stressed from the officers having him on a pole but once we got him to calm down he was great. He even started to lay his head on the ACA lap and turned into a cuddle bug. Very sweet and barely needed muzzling all he needed was a bear hug and some cheese got the job done.
