My Story

Well hello there, my name is Spinks! My foster dad named me "Spinks" after the boxer Leon Spinks because when I'm really excited I have this very cute habit of throwing my paws in the air, like I'm shadow boxing! But I'm really not very tough for someone named after a boxer... I much prefer soft beds and a good snuggle. I was dropped off at Buckland Pound, but I have no idea why... I'm awful good in the house. I don't make messes, I don't chew on anything inappropriate if I have a yummy bone available, I'm quiet in my crate and I sleep very nicely on my little doggy bed (although I do prefer YOUR bed if you'll let me!). I'm pretty darn good for someone who doesn't know any obedience yet, but I am learning fast! Ok, so I don't come very quickly when I'm called (so many things to smell, its so distracting!) but I DO sit nicely, and wait patiently for my food, and I'm learning all that "other" stuff quickly. Its just that this "obedience" thing is so new to me! I was a little underweight when I came home from the pound (sure wasn't much food in my old life) but now I've gained about 5 pounds and I'm "just perfect" according to the vet... who also thinks I'm a pretty special little guy! I'm good with cats, kids (toddlers and teenagers alike), other dogs, crowds, strangers, pretty much everything, I just take it all in stride. I'm kinda small for a German Shepherd cross, but my foster mom says that's just perfect 'cause that means she can pick me up and put me in the bathtub all by herself (unlike the rottweiler here!) I'm always smiling, and so grateful for the small things in life I never had before. Like food, and a soft bed, a good scratch and most of all love. I just soak it in like I've never been told I'm a good boy before, but boy do I like the sound of that! So now I just need somewhere I can belong, where I can have all these wonderful things I never knew existed before... like chewy bones, and belly rubs! Are you my forever home? If you are, then hurry up and come find me! I'm waiting....
Adoption Application
NEW HOPE DOG RESCUE is not a shelter. Our dogs are placed in loving foster homes. WE NEED FOSTER HOMES TO HELP MORE DOGS - CONTACT US TODAY!!!

Definitions:

Pending - means that we are working through the adoption process with the 1st applicant. We usually don't add the pending until we are pretty sure the adoption will go through (like at the home visit stage)

On Trial or Trial Visit - means that the dog is in their new home for up to 2 weeks before the adopters need to commit to keeping the dog. We want to make sure that everyone is happy with the new living arrangements! We allow this option for everyone except very long distance adoptions (too far to drive).

Adopted - you know!! A happy ending for a homeless dog. We try to let everyone know when we have the final word. Within about 24 hours, the dog's bio will be moved to our happy tails section!
