What a sweet, sweet “mature” little guy! Spike came with the name and he’s had it for a long time, so there’s no point in changing it – he’s a gentle, loving dog, no matter what his name is!
Spike was lucky enough to enjoy a few sleepovers with one of our staff members. She reports that he was the perfect guest: calm and relaxed at home, housetrained, likes dogs and cats, loves to go out for walks. Overall, a low maintenance dog!
Spike arrived at the shelter with a bad case of fleas that had been untreated for quite a while, which left him with patchy hair. However, we gave him the flea meds and his hair is starting to grow back in. Pretty soon he’ll be a “10” in the handsomeness department again!
We know that Spike was with his previous owner 24/7, so now when he’s left alone he barks. He would be the ideal companion for retirees, or for someone who works from home, or for a family that has at least one person at home at any given time.
Please be advised that our dogs are strays, so we do not have any background history on them. To meet any of the dogs, please visit the Vancouver Animal Control Shelter (VACS) at 1280 Raymur Avenue in Vancouver, or call 604-871-6888.
