My Story

Update 11/14/2009: Congratulations.. Spankey has found his forever home!!!

Cute playful little boy!!

Approximate DOB:  12/25/2008  Weight:  23 lbs

Update 10/25/2009: OK-- Spankey is now full grown.. He isn't as big as a Field Spanioel but looks very similar just smaller in size.. He recently had surgery to remove about 1/3 of his tail where we were having so many problems.. He has also been neutered and seems to be doing great!!! No flare ups with the demodex so we are thinking he might have outgrown it.. We are very happy that he is so healthy and happy now.. He throws his rope around for himself and just loves playing and having fun.. He is such a sweet little boy.. We are pretty confident that he is healthy now and ready for his forever home!!

Update 08/17/2009:  Spankey's Demodex is coming and going.. We are hoping to completely clear it up however with his immunity being so shot from his difficult puppyhood we really aren't sure if it will ever completely go away..

His new family will need to be very understanding about how to handle his out breaks.. Of course we will also be available for any help his new family might need.. He really is a great boy just needs a special home that won't mind dealing with his health issues when they flare up.. He mainly just gets it around his eyes and at the tip of his tail..

We use a combination of treatments to keep it under control so he has minimal flare ups but he does have them and may always have them.. We are hoping that this small issue doesn't keep him from getting a forever home.. Will you be that special someone that can give him his forever home regardless of his small problem??

For all we know, and we are hoping that, this time when it clears up it will not come back.. But this will be the second time that he has a flare up since coming in so we really aren't sure-- we are just keeping our fingers crossed that this is the last time and that he can get a forever home even with his special issue..

Update 5/7/2009:  Spankey is doing great!!!  The hold has been lifted and he is now ready to find his forever home!!! He loves attention and loves being inside with us.. He gets along great with the other dogs-- hasn't had any accidents in quite a while and is just a super boy.. He loves playing fetch with us and chase with the other dogs.. He would make a great addition to any home..

He is a wonderful little boy who has just had a rough start in life.. We do have some youtube videos up.. If you want to see an example of the situation our sweet little guy came from please check out the youtube video Almost Home NM Jane..  Jane, Spankey, Alfalfa, Buckwheat, and Pineapple all came from this horrible situation where they were deprived of food and water!!!   Please consider giving this sweet little guy a forever home..
Update 03/10/2009: We have been given custody of the dogs that came into protective custody. We can start placing them and releasing some information.

We first want to thank the Valencia County Animal Control for calling on rescue for help on these dogs. These dogs were in horrible shape and the staff did everything they could to ensure they all lived and were given the best chance possible. They removed them from the horrible situation they were at and put them into foster homes to get them healthy and keep them safe while going to court with the owner.

Spankey was severely dehydrated when AC picked him up-- we have to thank AC for getting him rehydrated and fed by the time we got there. It was heartbreaking to see the animals in that condition!!

Spankey came in as a 4 week old pup- he has now been in custody with us since January 22, 2009. He is growing and getting healthier by the day..

Spankey is doing great. He is pretty much completely housetrained, however his adopter will have to continue monitoring him to ensure he does continue his progress. He loves to play and follows us everywhere we go throughout the house.. He is a complete doll!!!!

Send us an e-mail requesting an application to adopt this sweetie!!  Animals are seen by appointment only.  An application must be submitted to us prior to making an appointment

Adoption fee $150 includes spay/neuter, rabies vaccine, age appropriate vaccinations, collar and tags, heartworm test (on dogs over 1 year old) Interceptor for the next month or if it is a puppy for when it is old enough, microchip, form to send in to Pedigree for $20 worth of free dog food, training DVD, training information, a discount on training with Custom K9 Performance, and all the support you need

He was severely emaciated and dehydrated upon intake.

We would love any help possible in caring for this beautiful baby. We should be able to get custody within the next few weeks. He is a little doll-- we will be posting more information, pictures, and his name as soon as we get a release. Thank you.

Please help care for this baby by clicking on the donate button. We appreciate any donation possible and it will go straight to the animals in our care-- you can also specify which pet you would like your donation to help.
