.ADOPTED 9-15-10, thank you Weber family of Post Falls, ID! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~UPDATE 9-2-10 After 4 months in her foster family, Sophie is a new girl. We think she was traumatized by her previous life, whatever that was, as she was fearful and defensive. Now, she is so much more relaxed, affectionate and playful. She just needed a home with respect and kindness! She is so easy to have around. Doesn’t bark much, is obedient, completely house-broken, just a sweet and loyal companion. She is very playful and although she looks her age, she doesn’t act it! We have discovered that thunder and fireworks terrify her, and she HATES to be crated or confined, but she takes everything else in stride************************************************UPDATE 4-27-10 from foster mom: Sophie is a 10-year old spayed 15-inch Beagle. She is now living with a foster family and has made herself right at home. She is reliably house-trained, has nice manners and will sit and “say please” for a treat. Like many senior citizens, Sophie likes to take life at a slower pace and does not appreciate being interrupted by younger dogs or little children when she is trying to rest. However, when she is at the dog park she runs for joy, and is very playful, especially with squeaky toys. She is eager to please her human but can be a little dominant with other dogs. She plays well with them but warns them away with a growl when she is no longer in the mood to play. She is an easy dog to have around, and would make a wonderful, loyal companion for someone who is home most of the time, as she reportedly suffers from separation anxiety. She has many good years left. *******************************************************In 4-24-10, Rescued in her final hour from a local kill shelter where she'd been surrendered by someone that had got her "for free off Craigslist" 3 weeks prior. She'd taken her in as a "playmate" for her rambunctious children, but Sophie is a 10 yr old gal and had no energy to play rough and tumble with the boys and got grumpy with them, so the lady dumped her at the shelter. That's all we know about her past, but can guarantee her future will be brighter and filled with happiness! More info to come as we get to know her
