Smokey

The first time we met Smokey we were horrified at his looks--he was so thin, and his beautiful coat was matted and filthy. We found out that the first few months of his life he had livied in a kennel in a dark barn with little food and certainly no love. We feel in love with this gentle boy and were glad we could rescue him from his past life and provide a caring home in which he could become the great dog he is today. Smokey loves to sit by you in the evening and watch the sunset and looks at you longingly if you stop petting him. He has a great personality and is very handsome; groomed or with his full coat, he prances as if he knows he is the man! Smokey enjoys car rides; and co-pilots by sitting straight up in the passenger side of our van; watching everything! He loves to go running or walking and surprisingly he loves the water, but that is the Newfie in his soul! Another trait, that he is a great watch dog but he never unnessarily barks; only to let you know someone is near. Smokey is very sensitive; he seems to know if you are sad, upset or happy...he just makes sure he is there to get a hug. Smokey is about four years old, and very healthy.
