6/30/10: Sinatra continues to make great progress in his healing! During his most recent trip to see his veterinarian we received the great news that his elbow is continuing to heal. We're happy for this sweet boy!!!
2/17/10: Sinatra is a sweet, deaf, 1.5 yr old fawnequin Great Dane. His previous owners dumped him at a county shelter in this horrible condition. The shelter then told us that with him being in such bad shape and being in pain, that if GDFRL didn't take him, he'd be immediately put to sleep. He had a huge tumor on his elbow that had to be removed immediately, he's underweight, has a non-contagious mange called demodex, and has a skin infection. It's a lot for such a young boy to be dealing with, but it's all fixable!
During the recent snow and ice in the area, Sinatra slipped on the ice and fell while going out to pee, causing the sutures from his surgical site where the tumor was removed to break open. The impact has caused substantial swelling to a degree that, for now, the wound is open and can't be sutured back. He's currently wearing bandages and wraps that are changed twice daily, and a protective ring around the elbow to keep pressure off the wound and bone. In the photo on our website, you can see what looks like right now. The white in the center is bone. If this doesn't start to heal on it's own very soon, Sinatra will have to have a drain put in his leg to help. Sinatra's adoption fee will be $300
