Jack Russells make very enjoyable companions when raised in the right setting--roomy suburban or country areas. They were bred as runners and are not suited for city or apartment life. Because they retain their working instincts and may chase and kill cats, rabbits, and other small animals, they should always be leashed or exercised in a secured area. Obedience training must start early because these dogs are easily distracted by surrounding activities and scents. They enjoy children and other dogs if exposed to them at an early age. They will bark when someone comes to the door but are not usually aggressive. They can, however, be protective of their property--toys and food bowls and such. Shorty is a wonderful Jack Russell Joining our rescue from Ohio. He will be arriving some time with in the week. He is well house trained. He wouls do best as the only dog and with children 10 or older. We will add more when he gets here as we get to know him. Please email us if you are interested in him.
