My Story

*INQUIRIES SENT THROUGH PETFINDER WILL NOT BE ANSWERED AS WE DO NOT HAVE THE MANPOWER TO RESPOND TO THEM. PLEASE COMPLETE OUR ADOPTION APPLICATION INSTEAD* Meet our litter of 4 Sheepadoodle puppies! They are located in the Houston and Austin, TX areas in IDOG foster homes. *Please read ALL the information in their listing before applying to ensure you understand what they need to be successful in their new home. If you would like to be considered as a potential adopter for one of them, please complete our adoption application at http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application (copy/paste URL into your browser). If you completed an adoption application in the last 3 months & would like for your application to be considered for a puppy, please email us to [email protected]. *You must complete our adoption application fully. If you choose not to answer all of the questions in the application, your application will not be considered. We will review your application & email you within 2-3 weeks if you made our short list of applicants for the puppies. You can check the status of their adoption at www.doodles.petfinder.com or any of our social media pages. We will change their status to adopted when they are adopted. *We base our adoption decisions on what is in the best interest of our dogs. Please note our adoption policies are in place for the safety and welfare of our dogs. We are all volunteers and have jobs, families, pets of our own to care for. We do the best that we can to get back to you in a timely manner. We believe in taking time to go through our thorough process to try to match the dog with the best fit for that dog. *You must be approved to adopt a puppy before we will schedule a meet and greet. We do not transport our dogs. The approved applicant must go to the foster home near Austin, TX or Houston, TX to pick up the puppy shortly after being approved to adopt the puppy. *AGE: born 3/9/22 *WEIGHT: expected adult weight 50-70. We can’t guarantee weight or size of puppies. *FENCE REQUIREMENT: A physical fence is required. No electronic/invisible fences, or e-collars will be allowed. *COAT TYPE: we have no way of predicting what type of coat they will have. You should be prepared for the puppy to have a shedding coat. Their parents were F1 Sheepadoodles which means the puppies can be 100% Sheepdog, 100% Poodle or some mix in between (F2 Sheepadoodle). If you have allergies or require a dog that sheds less, please do not apply. *ENERGY LEVEL: high puppy energy. They will nip while they are teething which could last for several months so you need to be prepared for razor sharp teeth nipping at you, your clothing and chewing on items they shouldn’t. *DOGS: they all get along well with the dogs in their foster homes. We will not place a puppy in a home with an older dog who would likely be annoyed by it. Due to the intense, playful nature of puppies, they would be best placed with dogs with a similar desire to interact and play. *CATS: unknown. *KIDS: ages 8+ who have experience around a large dog & know how to behave around dogs & are OK with being nipped & jumped on while the puppy has sharp teeth & is learning what is acceptable. *CAR: They did get car sick on their initial ride to their foster homes. As they mature, we do not know what their tolerance for riding in the car will be as that can change. *CRATE: sleeps in crate at night. They may need some transition/training when they go to their new homes as they will be alone/away from their littermates for the first time. *HOUSE TRAINED: work in progress. Their new families should be prepared to put the work in to train their puppy. They should be patient & understanding that the puppy is just a baby & WILL have accidents. *LEASH: Puppies have no leash experience. Their adopters should be willing to work with them on getting accustomed to leashes/walking. This adorable litter of 4 Sheepadoodle puppies (3 males and 1 female) came in to IDOG when their breeder asked for our assistance in finding them wonderful loving homes. We expect to have quite a bit of interest in the puppies. If you are interested in one, please list up to 3 names in order of preference. Names/gender/color/location in alphabetical order: Austin male black and white Houston, TX Cameron male black and white Austin, TX Cleveland male cream Austin, TX Paris female cream Austin, TX Here are a few observations from their foster families: AUSTIN (male) in Houston, TX. He is a very sweet, easygoing and lovable dude. He is very smart and has already learned some basic commands and listens well. He loves playing with toys and sleeps well in the crate. He does well in the car & interacts well with large & small dogs. His favorite time is playtime. He lets you know it’s time to play when he prances around like a horse. He is working hard on house training & will immediately potty when taken outside. He loves the water & will likely be a water baby if given the opportunity. CAMERON (male) in Austin, TX. He is very smart, loving, playful, friendly & energetic. He came to us a bit shy and hesitant. Over the week that he has been here he has become more trusting each day. He is a Velcro puppy & stays by my side. He will run to me if I call his name. He sits for a treat & is good in the crate. He has been sleeping with his littermate so will need some time to adjust to being alone. He would do best with another dog in his new home. He likes toys & playing tug of war & will wade in the baby pool on his own. I give a high value treat when he potties outside & he makes eye contact with me to make sure I see him being the best boy. He likes my dogs but they are too much for him & he ends up hiding under my legs. CLEVELAND (male) in Austin, TX. He loves other dogs & snuggles. He is a little tank (double the size of his brother) & is very social & friendly with people and dogs. He plays fetch very well & doesn’t mind baths or brushing. He is very sweet & he loves toys and things that squeak! He will let you know when it’s dinner time. He is very curious & sometimes startles at our dogs’ barks. He loves to chase with the big dogs. He does well in our puppy play area & is treat motivated to learn. We have worked on sit, kennel & outside. He is close to being house-trained when his family watches his signs for when he needs to potty. PARIS (female) in Austin, TX. She is a smart, curious, friendly & confident puppy and is eager to meet people and dogs. She sleeps in the crate without crying but she has her littermate with her so she will need some time to adjust to being alone when she goes to her new home. She will fetch a toy & comes when called. She will sit for a treat. She LOVES bully sticks. She holds her potty when she is in the crate and is working hard on house training. She gets a high value treat every time she goes outside to potty & she makes eye contact and then runs back for her ‘good girl’ reward. She will wade in the baby pool. She tried to play with the big dogs but they are too much for her & she ends up hiding under my legs. She hasn’t met a cat yet. Due to the intense needs of puppies, we will require adopters to be experienced dog owners with someone home during the day so they are provided human interaction while continuing to work on house & obedience training. We are looking for adopters who understand the training, exercise & socialization needs of puppies as well as the safety precautions that must be followed until they are fully vaccinated. Because the puppies are so young, it is not possible to determine what temperament they will have as adults. Also, we are unsure of the final coat types they will have so only adopters that can tolerate a shedding coat will be considered. As they mature, their natural disposition and coat types will emerge. All puppies will require training and to be spayed/neutered by 9 months of age – these expenses will be covered by the adoptive families. The puppies have seen our vet and received their second set of vaccines, dewormer, and heartworm/flea tick preventives. They will need to get their 3rd booster vaccines over the next month and are not fully protected against diseases until 2 weeks after their last set of boosters. They should NOT be allowed to have their paws on the ground except in a fenced backyard where no unknown dogs have been. They cannot be around any unvaccinated animals – the risk of Parvo is very real. Parvo can live in our soil for at least a year. Care must be given to protect them – they cannot go to pet stores, on walks in the neighborhood, etc. If you are not willing to make this commitment for the safety of the puppy, please do not apply. IDOG will hold a $200 spay/neuter deposit. The adopter will be required to spay/neuter their puppy by 9 months of age. You will need to send the vet receipt to IDOG and we will then refund the deposit. If you fail to get your puppy desexed by 9 months of age per the adoption contract terms, you will be required to return the puppy back to IDOG Rescue. ADOPTION FEE: $700 adoption fee + $200 refundable spay/neuter deposit to be refunded upon proof of spay/neuter
