Shasta

Shasta was born in October of 2008 and is a year old in these pictures taken October 24, 2009. He is a beautiful and handsome boy, who loves to run and play with the other dogs. Being with people and going for walks makes his day for sure though. A little hyper when he gets let out of his kennel, but he soon calms down after a few minutes. He is still a pup after all. Shasta rides great in the car and will "load" into a kennel when you tell him to. We did track down his original adopter through a microchip who told us Shasta's story. She also said that Shasta is GREAT with cats and even had a cat as his best friend when she had him. Was very cute to watch them nap together. That he was great with children and didn't have any food aggression. Facts that we have confirmed with testing. From what the owner told us, Shasta has been through a lot. He was saved from a kill shelter in Missouri not just once, but twice. The original owner adopted him and another two Huskies from a kill shelter in January 2009. A few months after adopting them, she gave Shasta and another male away to a neighbor. Then the neighbor gave Shasta away to someone else. She couldn't tell me how long the neighbor had Shasta before he gave him away. Being the typical Husky Houdini, he kept getting out of the yard. He was picked up by animal control. The owner came to claim Shasta, but did not want to pay a fine, so Shasta was left at the kill shelter. It is a very small and underfunded shelter that few people knows about. LP got Shasta a day or so before his time was up. Shasta went to the vet November 3 to get a fecal and Heartworm/Lyme/Ehrlichia test done. He was negative for everything and is on HW preventative. Shasta has had all off his shots. He weighed 41 pounds.
