My Story

CROSS POSTED ONLY. For info, you must contact Heart of Michigan Bernese Mtn Dog Rescue Bruce & Linda Whiteside at [email protected] or 248-969-1960 Web Site: http://michiganberneserescue.org ~~ Please do NOT contact Thirdtyme Rescue about this dog as we have no further information!! ** Schultz is a 10-11 month old purebred Bernese Mt Dog. ~~ He is a great boy, very much still a PUPPY at heart, despite his 85 lbs. He is mostly a teenager that needs patience, training, and time. He plays wonderfully with medium to large dogs, tho can be a bit rough w/ very small dogs, not realizing his own size. Is fine with cats. ~~ He also is very helpful in encouraging his foster mom and dad to be better housekeepers -- if you dont keep things picked up around the house he also will still eat things like sock, toys, towels!! He has lived with kids but because of his eating things, a home with older children that don't leave toys or clothes around would be best. ~~ He does have an old injury to his front leg from before he came into rescue, the cause is unknown, but it is managed well on an inexpensive pain pill. ~~ Schultz has a history of resource guarding when he gets something he is not supposed to have. ~~ While Schultz is not a runner or jumper, we do require a fenced yard ........ and never the shock collar "invisible fencing systems," as those tend to cause and increase aggression in many dogs. ~~ NOTE: Even if you are not yet ready to adopt, we would love to find a temporary FOSTER HOME for Schultz.
