My Story
01/05/08 - Sasha and Heidi are black and tan shepherd mix sisters who know the true meaning of the phrase "just in the nick of time". They were "Christmas puppies free to a good home" that didn't get a home, and landed in the shelter after Christmas. When we called to have them held for us, a shelter employee went to see if it was too late, and thankfully she was able to save them for us just minutes before their turn! As with most dogs turned in to the shelter, these little girls are wonderful, and deserve a second chance at life with people who will love and appreciate them!
Sasha is the largest of the sisters and has darker markings than her sister Heidi. The first night, she was very withdrawn and timid, and stayed hidden in the crate, but by the next morning she was full of kisses and joy! She hasn't stopped playing since then, and loves to be held, cuddled and kissed. It is very obvious that affection is new to Sasha and Heidi, and they are both loving it!! They are not used to toys, and are learning how to play. They get along amazingly well with all their foster brothers and sisters, and are very excited to have other friends to play with. More updates will follow as the girls settle in to their foster home!
Fill out an on-line application for these girls and come visit them soon!
03/25/08 Update - Sasha was spayed today!
04/22/08 Update - New pictures! Wow ~ we've been having so much fun here on the farm, that my foster mom has forgotten to update my pictures and tell you what I've been doing. I have been so busy learning to be a happy puppy since my Christmas rescue!! I am 7 months old now and well on my way to being a truly fabulous dog!!!!
I have great foster brothers and sisters and except for minor quarrels over who gets the bed and who gets the best toy, we all get along fine! I am house trained, crate trained, leash trained and even have a few tricks up my sleeve, such as sit, down, shake and off. I have even been known to bring toys when I'm asked. I am up to date on all my shots, and have been spayed.
I get along very well with other dogs, but probably would do best in a house without cats, as I tend to be mouthy with them. Because of my size, I am most suitable to homes with children 8 or older. I love children and would be very upset if I knocked the little ones over!! I am fiercely loyal, and will be very protective of my family. I am a good listener and try very hard to do exactly what I am asked to do!!!
I would love to be in an active family. I would be a great jogging companion or walking buddy. I would be an excellent agility competitor and my foster mom thinks I would love something she calls flyball?? I am super smart ~ it only took my foster mom 5 minutes to teach me to sit. House training was a breeze ~ I never had an accident and when I have to go potty during the night, I stand up beside the bed and put my front paws on mom and shake her ~ she wakes up and there are no accidents! She only wishes my foster brothers and sisters were as smart as me ~ what are they going to do when I get my forever home?
Speaking of my forever home ~ I was most upset that my sister Heidi was adopted out before me ~ I'm ever so much smarter and prettier than she!!! But lucky for you, I am still available and waiting for that special someone that wants a forever friend! Fill out the on-line application and get over here fast ~ I have so much love and loyalty to give and I'm ready to start today!!!!
12/30/08 Sasha's Christmas wish last year was to get out of the shelter alive.......we made that wish come true.................. but now her Christmas wish this year is to find her forever family in 2009. (new pictures!)
Sasha is an all round excellent dog for any and all family situations. She would be an excellent dog for a single person, a couple or a family with children. Because of her size, she is probably best suited for a family with children 8 and older. She loves to ride in a car and go places with her people ~ she is very friendly with all people and other dogs as well ~ she is not a dominant female, but neither is she extremely submissive, and should do well in a household with other dogs, male or female. Sasha is being fostered in a house with cats, so she is used to cats as well. Sasha would be an excellent companion for walkers, joggers or hikers ~ she would love attending children's ball games ~ as long as she is with her family, she is happy!!!
Sasha has very good house manners, and is responsive to learning new commands and tricks. She is excellent on a leash and would be a great dog park or doggie day care member!! Sasha is housetrained and crate trained, but does not like her crate, except at mealtime. Her favorite nighttime occupation is playing quietly with a chew toy in the office, while her foster mom works on the computer, and then sleeping on the bedroom floor. On weekends, she will even go back to sleep in the morning and sleep late if she's told to "settle".
If you think you have room in your heart and home for a new family member, then consider Sasha and make her 2009 wish come true!!
02/28/09 Sasha has been adopted!
