My Story

Meet Sandy! Hi, I’m Sandy but my friends call me Pants! I know, it’s silly to be called Pants but when you’ve been in your foster home for a bit of time, you get lots of nicknames. It started as Sandy Pants, and over time we got to just Pants but I’ve also been known to be called Pantalope, Pantasaurus. You get the idea… I’m a goofy and silly girl who has been looking for her forever home for a few months. My foster mom says it has really only been a few months but I’ve been in WI since October. When I got to WI, my foster mom noticed something wasn’t right with my legs and MPM helped to get me surgery in December on both my back knees to be able to live my best life. I’ve made a full recovery since I was given the okay from my surgeon in February and wow my new legs are great! I love to run like a crazy girl in the yard and go for walks. Sometimes I’ve even been known to dive into the grass and go swimming. I walk great on a leash and harness and even ignore other dogs as long as they don’t bark at me. There are other dogs in my foster home and I do great with one on one play but get a bit overwhelmed in a group. I’d love another dog in my new home to play with but my foster mom says they need to have an even temperament and not be too excitable. I do need a forever home with a physically fenced yard since sometimes things scare me, and a patient family who will go at my pace would be best. My ideal forever home would have a consistent routine and not a lot of traffic in or outside the home so I know what to expect. My foster mom took me to confidence class and I’ve made a lot of progress but she says it’s a marathon, not a sprint. Whatever that means. And because younger kids are unpredictable, I think I’d prefer it if they were older. I know this may sound like a lot, but I really am the bestest girl and my personality really shines when I’m outside playing in the yard or when I get some one on one time to cuddle. Oh and I forgot to mention, I’m a young 1.5 year old American Pit Bull Terrier mix and a perfect medium size at just under 50 lbs but I have short legs so I look smaller than what the scale says, if you know what I mean.
