Sammy 4-5 mos.

Little 4-5 month old Sammy is a puppy who is quite a special youngster as his foster mom relates:

“Sammy is such a good boy. When I first picked him up he was just trembling, so I just held him in my arms for about 30 minutes before I took him home. Once I got him home and he saw all my dogs he was very scared.

“Well, my dogs just smothered him with love and so have we. I'm not sure if I could find anything that would worry him now! He plays with 6 Labs that range from 8 months to 5 years and loves them all. You can now take toys, treats, and even bones from his mouth without even a peep. He just sits down so pretty and waits for you to give it back to him. We are working on jumping up -- he still he doesn't like not being as tall as everyone else! We are also working on taking treats a little more gently. Housetraining is coming along well.

“I think Sammy will be successful with an active house that has one or more dogs to play with and people around most of the time. The vet said he believes Sammy will be a big boy when he grows up. He already sounds like he weighs 100 pounds when he runs through the house -- kind of like a small pony. He is very precious and I wish I could keep him because he is that special! “

Please note: Puppies, while adorable, are not for everyone. Think carefully if your lifestyle has room for the extraordinary responsibility of raising a puppy. Sammy will only be placed in homes with (1) adults or older children who can treat a dog with kindness and respect and (2) one that clearly has the dedication and substantial time throughout the day to devote to raising a puppy to responsible adulthood.
