Rusty is a neutered male Anatolian Shepherd Dog x Great Pyrenees cross. His DOB is April 2008, he weighs about 90 pounds and is in good health, current on shots.
Rustys owners do not have fencing to keep him home so Rusty had to come to rescue so he could find a new home.
Rusty is housebroken, knows basic commands, walks on leash. He is very friendly, great with kids, good with other dogs, cats and horses. Rusty loves to be in the house with his family but also likes to go outside to be on patrol. This is a super dog but he does like to kill all predators & varmints--badgers even, according to his owner --but is sweet & tolerant & careful with domestic dogs, cats, &
kittens. Supposedly has been okay with her parrot too. Loves people & especially kids. Rusty is "an awesome dog". He has been leaving their property to go over to a nearby feedlot, where he apparently hangs out & protects the cattle (free service for feedlot owner) but the intervening landowner has threatened to shoot at him if he sees Rusty crossing his field. So it is no longer safe for Rusty to stay at his current home. Rusty is true to his breed and loves being a guardian, he just needs a safe place to provide his skills but also be part of the family.
An adoption fee applies which covers all necessary vet care to include: spay or neuter (mandatory - no exceptions), rabies, micro-chipping and registration, all vaccinations (including all puppy shots, rabies, adult boosters and Bordatella), grooming, Frontline for flea/tick preventative, heartworm check if age appropriate and preventative, collar and 50% of basic training classes.

Due to time restraints, we are not able to accept phone calls outside of our showing times, but we always try and answer all emails within 24 hours. All of our young and adult dogs require a 2 week home visit before finalizing the adoption process. This is to help ensure it is a good match for all involved without making a final commitment. All of our rescues are in private homes and not available to be visited outside of showing times.
All DogsOnly foster homes work with our rescues to ensure they are crate trained and most are also housetrained. None of the DogsOnly fosters have cats in their homes so we can only make our best guess as to how our rescues would do with cats. We rescue from high kill shelters and once accepted into our program, none of our rescues are euthanized. We provide for all their vet care, socialization and training until an appropriate home can be found.
DogsOnly relies solely on donations and is a 501(c)3 Humane Society. Our mission is to rescue dogs that most other groups are not interested in due to their size, breed, age, health or other various reasons, and to provide education resources for dog owners and those with an interest in the wellbeing of dogs. DogsOnly believes that no dog should be left behind.
