My Story

December Update!

A lovely and local couple has fallen in love with Rusty and hopes to adopt him in the New Year. He is going to be close to his loving grandparents and able to visit as well! Rusty is one lucky boy!

Rusty is an adored family pet who has become stressed living with the three young children in his home. He was no longer happy in the home with all the new noises, toys and loss of attention so he moved out. Thankfully his wonderful grandparents have taken him in temporarily. Can dogs have grandparents? We think so and Randy has some really good ones! They really love him and are heartbroken having to give him up.
Unfortunately, his grandparents did not plan on having a four-legged companion when they retired and bought their motor-home. The plan was to travel and Rusty is just not up for the heat in the places they are headed. Rusty loves living with this retired couple in their calm home and is so well behaved and well mannered. The plans for travel have been made so Rusty needs to find a new place to hang his hat, at least while they are away.
Ideally his grandparents would like to keep in touch with Rusty. They'd even like to be there as a home away from home for the loving family that does take him in as they cannot bear to think of him in a kennel. They have offered to take him in again should the family who adopts him have holiday plans that do not include him.

I was very touched meeting Rusty and his loving grandparents. They care so much for this boy and understand his needs. They want what is best for him but are worried they cannot provide that due to travel plans and prior commitments. They stepped up to take him in and are willing to do what is needed to help find him a perfect home, including the offer to help with him if/when needed once he is in a new home.
Rusty has been in their lives, at least as a grand-dog, for over 7 years. He was born in July of 2000 and brought home by their son and daughter-in-law as a puppy.
We all want to help Rusty retire as well as his human grandparents and we know there is a place out there for him.
Rusty is a playful, healthy and happy boy. He is very loyal and adores his grand-family. He has a few doggie pals in the neighborhood and would not be opposed to sharing his home with the right K-9 match. He has lived with cats, but not since a pup. He would probably be OK with a dog savvy cat to live with. He really can't live with young children full-time anymore but still visits with his family and their children and enjoys seeing them. Kids that visit and go away are just fine with him ;)
Rusty is easy to walk on leash, sticks close if off-leash once he knows you and loves to be out with his family. He is just fine left alone to sleep away the day as long as you bring back supper!
Rusty is a pretty easy going fella who is very hart to resist. He won me over in about 30 seconds and will win you over too!
