Rusty

Rusty has quite the story to tell... He is a wonderful 2-3 year old, 30lb Sussex spaniel mix who was rescued from euthanasia after being brought back to the original shelter he came from because he "nipped" at a child. Turns out, he had been adopted out to a family with 8 CHILDREN that would smack him over the head with various objects as a way of "playing" with Rusty... poor guy was terrified of people coming near his head when he first arrived with us. After lots of rehab and socialization, Rusty has regained confidence and while he is still somewhat weary with new people around his head, he has warmed up quite a bit to our staff and the volunteers (including kids!) that see him on a regular basis! We would like to see Rusty go to an older couple, ideally with grown kids (10 and over) where he can live a nice laid back mellow life. He is WONDERFUL with other dogs and would be fine with cats as well. Rusty deserves another chance in the right environment... he was dealt a bad card by no fault of his own, and we will make sure that doesn't happen again. Rusty is up to date on shots, neutered, microchipped and comes with a free month of pet insurance. Adoption fee $250.

Please fill out an online APPLICATION if you wish to adopt. The rescue suggests obedience training for all puppies and dogs. All dogs are up to date on their shots, dewormed and spayed or neutered.

If you wish to meet our dogs at the rescue, you must first be approved by going through our application and screening process.
