My Story

"RUSTY" 4/2/04 is being fostered in NJ. 4/9/04 update: Typical irish setter puppy! Very much like Murphy at 9 months. We arrive home at 5:00, just before 8:00 he finally lied down for about 10 minutes. He and Murphy have been playing non stop. Murphy has taken a few breaks in between, he is exhausted. Rusty is very obedient when you bring out the treats. Sit, Stay, gives paw, come. He has a great appetite too, gobbled up dinner. Will happily counter surf, so you have to keep an eye on him. He is just a happy boy! Even when he is scolded he just wags his tail, just like Murphy did as pup. He will be a great family dog, especially if the family is active and can bring him along to childrens activities, he loves kids. Just sniffs the cat, who couldn't be bothered by him, then he's off playing again. I haven't seen any interest in chewing things he isn't supposed too. He found the toy bin and had a blast with all the toys. He doesn't like to be left alone. He ate dinner in his crate but wanted out after, barked and cried. He does fine with Murphy in his 8 X 12 kennel in the basement. He went out at 9:30 for the night, and then to bed with Murphy, lights out and I haven't heard a peep. I'll get them up a 6:00 tomorrow morning. He is a very sweet boy and seems to easily attach himself to family members. Rusty slept through the night, I woke both of them up at 6:45. Rusty was sleeping under Murphy! Murphy has a raised bed - they were very cute. There was alot of humping yesturday but things have mellowed out. Murphy has told Rusty that he doesn't like that. We took them for a walk today. Rusty was very nice on the leash. He doesn't lunge for squirrels or birds, which is very nice. However, he is a car chaser and you have to be prepared for that. He really loves being around people. If you sit on the floor he will come and sit on your lap with his toy. Rusty has been trained on the invisible fence with his foster home! Nice looking boy, just needs some attention, previous home worked all day, and kept him crated. Active, would do best with a fenced yard and no small children, age 9-10 ok. $250 adoption fee. approx 9 month old male neutered, rabies and shots, no heartworm so far. bought from a pet store for the children. rides in car. housebroken crate trained chews, jumps, bad on lead sounds like a typical Irish setter puppy to me. just ate the husbands bike, i.e., harley davidson motorcycle, so has to go immediately. In foster home in NY, 4/1/04. The trip was fine but loud. They were glad to get rid of him. He VERY energetic. Its been a humping contest since we got home around 7pm But everything undercontrol. He'snever seen cats til now. He curious but respectful especially when he gets a faceful of claws. My cats are not aggressive. They will take so much but when the nose gets too far up the butt,....they draw the line. So far gets along well with my two. Just the usual getting too frisky and knocking over furniture and all. He wouldn't walk at all on the lead for them. It was nothing but a jumping and pulling contest. But within a half a block once here he did fine. He learns quickly. Peed a little inside though I walked him quite well before we went in. A little puppy nervousness I think. An application, vet reference, home visit and a drive to NJ a must to meet our dogs!
