Rufus

Rufus is approximately 4 years old in these pictures taken April 3, 2010. This poor boy has been through a lot. He was running the streets before he was hit by a car. Some people took him in and contacted one of our volunteers to see if LP could help him. We agreed if the the family agreed to foster him while he recovered. They did and even took him to the vet for us.

Rufus was in bad shape with a broken leg and lots of scrapes. On medication for pain and infection, Rufus was recovering well though. But for some reason the foster parents decided taking care of Rufus was too much and decided to take him to the vet and have him put down. Thank goodness the vet called us. This very handsome, gentle, and loving boy would have been lost. A volunteer picked him up and brought him to LP where he continues to recover.

Rufus is doing well. He will always have a limp, but gets around just fine. Rufus is a little shy when he first meets you. He also gets nervous if there is a lot of commotion in the yard or if there are a lot of people. Because of this, we do not recommend a home with small children. Rufus is the best dog in a house as he doesn't destroy anything and is housebroken. He is great on a leash and in the car. Rufus does have problems with any dog that growls at him or one that is alpha. So he would be better in a home with a mild mannered dog or in a home where he is the only dog.

Rufus is up-to-date on shots and is Heartworm negative. He is on HW preventative and weighs 40 pounds.
