My Story

Sandy haired with a sparkly personality, Ruby is an older adult with bursts of puppy energy. She likes to play with toys and LOVES to chase balls. Most of all, she loves snuggles! She tags along with her favorite people wherever they go. She’s great on a leash, crate trained, a perfectly polite car rider. She’s delightfully soft and cuddly. We’re talking seriously soft. Ruby was surrendered to Halfway There Rescue by owners who made her live outdoors while profiting off breeding her with another small dog with whom she shared the confined space of a chain-link pen. Limited human socialization left her with anxiety and fear. However, since joining the Halfway There Rescue family, Ruby has opened up to people in an impressive way. She is full of JOY and it can be seen in her little teddy bear face. This joyful ten-pound teddy bear still needs a calm house without small kids and their unpredictable quickness. She can be anxious around other dogs; she might be best as a solo doggo. She has been happily living with a similarly sized dog for a year. They seem to have a mutual agreement to share space while pretending the other does not exist. She has also co-habitated with a much larger dog who gave her the space she needed to feel comfortable.
