Ross is a 3 month old Appenzeller, which is a very rare Swiss Mountain dog. The Appenzell is one of four swiss mountain dogs which includes the bernese mountain, the entlebucher, and the greater swiss mountain dog. These dogs are a herding breed, and have been used to pull carts. If this breed isn't working, the odds are, they aren't very happy. They thrive to work and to please their owner. They do good around a family, but seem to stick to one person, and do their best to protect their owner. The appenzeller is also a very enthusiastic guard dog.

Ross was surrendered to the shelter with his brother Snowshoe and his sister Ruby, another puppy and her father will soon be up for adoption. The breeder that had the puppies seemed to be in the situation for the money, but many people are not ready to pay the price that he was selling for. Even though he was trying, the breeder did not seem to take exceptional care of his dogs, neglecting to have vet care done, or training any of his dogs. Ross has been given neccessary shots, but will still need more in the future. Ross does have the typical kennel spin, which dogs will do to get rid of excess energy or frustration. With plenty of playtime and training, the spin will most likely be non-existant. Of the three available puppies, Ross is the most needy. He can't stand being away from people. He's very excitable, and very sweet. He seems to be calmer than the other two, but still very high energy. He could run for hours. Although Ross is kennelled with Ruby and Snowshoe, they do not have to be adopted together.

Ross is a preneuter, which means once he hits the appropriate weight or age, he will need to be neutered.
