My Story

Meet Rose! This gorgeous girl has sadly found herself back in a shelter, and we are determined to give her the fairytale ending she deserves. At about a year old and weighing 55 lbs, Rose appears to be full-grown. While a DNA test hasn't confirmed her lineage, we suspect she's a mix of Golden Retriever and possibly Boxer, influenced by our knowledge of her mother's brindle coloring and breed. Rose's journey began last fall when she, along with her eight siblings and mom, was rescued as strays and taken to a shelter. She was adopted as a puppy but, through no fault of her own, was returned to the shelter recently because her previous owners claimed they "did not have time for her." It's evident that her training needs were neglected; even basic leash skills seemed new to her. Now back in the shelter, Rose is understandably confused and heartbroken. Despite these setbacks, Rose's puppy-like energy and curiosity are intact. She is quickly learning how to walk on a leash and showing great potential. What she needs now is a patient and loving owner who can properly guide her through basic obedience training, socialization, and potty training—areas where she previously missed out. Rose has lived with children before, and while she's past the puppy teething phase, she still enjoys a good chew and should be introduced to children slowly and with supervision. She is incredibly friendly with other dogs and would benefit greatly from having a canine companion to play and learn alongside. Rose is a typical energetic young dog who needs positive engagement and consistent training. Her ideal home would offer plenty of activity and mental stimulation. She should not be left alone all day; regular check-ins for potty breaks and playtime are essential to help her adjust and thrive in a home environment. A yard would be ideal, and if it’s fenced, even better. Due to her size and activity level, we are not considering applications from apartment dwellers. While Rose's appearance may draw attention, we want to ensure she goes to a home that values her needs over her looks. Potential adopters should be willing to learn about both Retrievers and Boxers, as these breeds may not be suitable for everyone. Rose’s transition from a shelter to a home environment will require patience and understanding as she learns to be a cherished family member. This is your chance to turn Rose’s story around and give her the loving home she so desperately needs. Adoption Requirements for Rose: -No apartments or condos. -Must have a yard, ideally fenced. -Experience with active breeds is a plus. Health status: Rose is up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed, microchipped, on monthly prevention, heartworm negative, and ready to find her forever home! Important Notes: All dogs, including Rose, are located in Texas and will be transported ONLY after adoption, with transportation costs included in the adoption fee. We make educated guesses about breeds based on their physical traits and behaviors, but we encourage adopters to focus more on Rose's personality and compatibility with their lifestyle than on breed labels.
