Hi! My name is Romp, and I am a shy but loving 4-year old, ~50lb lab/pitt mix looking for my forever home. I have gorgeous big brown eyes with a sandy-colored coat. Sadly, I haven't always had the nicest life before coming into rescue... might you be my angel who will help show me how beautiful and safe the world is?
Since January 2021, I have been in a wonderful foster home with a loving retired woman named Judy. I absolutely ADORE her and my foster dog siblings... but I long for my own family! Cats are OK too (hmm well I'm a bit afraid of them and their 9 lives... but don't bother them). My favorite thing to do is run around in my foster's fenced yard or go to doggy day care (check out the goofy photos of me playing in the mud!). Oh and did I mention that I'm quite the couch potato? The perfect home for me would be patient, loving, and calm (no kids), perhaps with a person living alone or a retired couple. Other dogs would be an added bonus!
I am ready for my forever family! I'm up to date on vaccinations, have been spayed, and am housebroken. To give me my very much deserved happy ending, please apply to adopt me (Romp) by visiting our website at www.peace4paws.org and fill out an adoption application on a computer (we do not get smartphone apps). Thanks!
DETAILED BACKGROUND ON ROMP:
Previously delicate Lab/pit mix Romp spent pretty much her whole life in a shelter in Mississippi. She was abandoned there with her brother when she was 7½ weeks old through no fault of her own. She was socialized with other dogs and the shelter people, but not in a home environment. Even there, Romp was quite timid, but she always had her brother Chomp to protect her. Well, Chomp was adopted, and she was then on her own. The shelter people felt that she came out of her shell a bit after he left, but she still had not seen much of the "real world."
After at least two and a half years of being in the shelter Romp came to NJ and was adopted by a young couple that live on Long Island. City life scared poor Romp even more; when on a walk with her new mom, Romp was frightened by some noise, slipped her collar, ran into the street, and was grazed by a car. She was okay, but she was sent skidding down the street incurring only a few abrasions. Thankfully, she was physically fine, but the owners returned Romp as they weren't experienced dog owners.
