Meet Romi! Romi is a 5 year old Shar Pei mix with quite possibly the cutest set of ears you'll ever see! Romi is Animal Friend's longest resident, but our staff, volunteers, and wonderful fosters hold onto hope for finding the perfect home for this sweet girl. Romi was originally surrendered to our care in February 2022 when her owner stated they did not have the funds to care for her. At the time, Romi was so very thin and was missing quite a bit of hair (check out her transformation picture!), and was immediately sent to a foster which allowed us to learn so much about her personality! She was briefly adopted in September 2023, but unfortunately came back to us a few months later due to the family facing eviction. While we hated that her family could not keep her any longer, this social butterfly was happy to reconnect with her original fosters and we know she still has so much love and joy to give to her forever family when she finds them. Romi does need to be the only pet in the home and is on a special diet since she does have some food allergies, but our long time with her has shown us so many reasons that she would be an incredible companion, including that she: - Loves to meet new people - Is crate trained & house trained - Travels well in the car - Does well for baths - Has previously lived with children and done well - Has moderate energy levels, likes to run around outside but is relaxed in the house - Has good recall in a fenced in backyard - Is a respectful houseguest: not destructive when left out, no signs of separation anxiety, does not beg for food, and is happy to be up on furniture or on the ground in a dog bed depending on your preference - Treat motivated but not picky (will work for her kibble) - Is a fashion icon- this photogenic beauty is ready to rock a bandana or comfy jacket - Affectionate and cuddly, but doesn't mind spending time by herself If Romi's charming personality sounds like the right fit for your home submit an adoption application (https://tinyurl.com/afhsapp) to [email protected] so we can get you connected to her fosters, who would love to help answer any questions and set up a meet and greet! All dogs over 6 months have been heartworm tested, and all dogs are treated monthly for fleas/ticks and are on Heartworm prevention (NexGard PLUS). All pets are spayed/neutered prior to a finalized adoption. All our dogs receive a behavior assessment before being placed for adoption to determine initial behaviors towards people and other dogs in the shelter environment.
