My Story

Rocky has a new family!

3/23/06: Sutures removed and free of pneumonia and the 5 lb. tumor, Rocky gets ready to move to the beach for a happy forever life! Rocky was dumped out in the streets and picked up by animal control as a stray. He has a very large, benign, tumor on the side of his neck that needs to be removed. He is a sweetheart who deserves a chance to have a home where he will be loved. He has been recovering from kennel cough and upper respiratory infection in his foster home. Rocky is the sweetest, mellow, cuddler every! If you need a sweet companion, this is your guy! Although he just celebrated his tenth birthday on Oct 15th, Rocky is young at heart. FINANCIAL HELP is needed for this dog's surgery. All donations are appreciated, no matter how small!

######UPDATE 11-8-05##### Well Rocky is doing wonderful with new his foster mom and she says he is a snuggler! He goes for walks and minds his manners in the home and is a very happy boy. Rocky has had a bath, nail trim and loved all the attention!

######UPDATE 1/20/06##### On 1/20/06, Rocky met his surgeon, Dr. Donna Lee Taylor of Northwest Veterinary Specialists. She ordered x-rays and deep needle aspirate tests on his growing tumor. The results showed that it is a fatty lipoma and doesn't seem to be malignant, but we won't know for certain until she removes it. Dr. Taylor LOVES Beagles and had one earlier in her life. !

######UPDATE 1/24/06##### 1/24/06: Rocky's x-rays show severe pneumonia...sigh. So, his surgery has been delayed. He will have to be on 2 strong antibiotics for 2 weeks, then redo the x-rays, then 2 more weeks of antibiotics IF the x-rays are clear....then surgery. So.....poor little Rocky has to wait at least one month for his surgery....meanwhile the tumor grows. !

!

######UPDATE 2/01/06##### "Foster Mom, Jane, reports that the meds for Rocky's pneumonia seem to be working. His appetite is better, he has more energy and seems less congested. Go Rocky! His recheck vet appointment and xrays are set for 2/10. If they are clear, he will continue meds for another 2 weeks, then they can perform the surgery. Keep watching for more updates!" !
